چکیده

Ultra-high temperature ceramics (UHTCs) are most recently getting much attention for structural parts of hypersonic missiles with their cruising speed more than Mach 5. Most the UHTCs poor sinterability carbides, nitrides, and borides. Therefore, they have been studied developed a long time. However, there still many problems to solve. In this paper, based on solid-state reaction presented as an equation (x + y)·ZrC 2·y·B → x·ZrC y·ZrB2 y·C, three-phase ZrC/ZrB2/C composites fabricated from ZrC amorphous B powders using pulsed electric-current pressure sintering at 1373 2173 K 6.0 × 102 s under 50 MPa in vacuum. = 30/70/C~70/30/C vol% relative densities Dr 96.6 98.7% were obtained 2073 K. The 60/40/C composite revealed high bending strength σb (554 MPa), Vickers hardness Hv (19.2 GPa) moderate fracture toughness KIC (5.25 MPa·m1/2) room temperature. Furthermore, all showed elastic deformation up 1873 600 temperature, addition, some higher 900 same These mechanical behaviors discussed those simple binary ZrC/ZrB2 which conditions except starting materials. best properties (474 (18.5 GPa), (4.45 400 - 700 Overall, composites, nevertheless including soft carbon, composites.

Mechanical Properties of Gypsum Board at Elevated Temperatures

Gypsum board is a common fire barrier used in house and general building construction. Recently, evaluation of the collapses of the World Trade Center Towers highlighted the potential role and failure of gypsum board in containing the fires and resisting damage. The use of gypsum board as primary fire protection of light-flame wood or steel construction is ubiquitous. Yet knowledge of the commo...

Mechanical properties of High and Very High Steel at elevated temperatures and after cooling down

High-strength steels (HSS) are produced using special chemical composition or/and manufacturing processes. Both aspects affect their mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and after cooling down, and particularly the residual strength and the ductility of the structural members. As HSS equates the design of lighter structural elements, higher temperatures are developed internally compar...

The Dry Sliding Wear Properties of Nano-Sized TiCp/Al-Cu Composites at Elevated Temperatures

Nano-sized ceramic particle reinforced aluminum composites exhibit excellent room-temperature mechanical properties. However, there is limited research on the dry sliding wear behavior of those composites at elevated temperatures, which should be one of the major concerns on elevated temperature applications. Here the Al-Cu composites reinforced with nano-sized TiCp were fabricated. The dry sli...

Effect of Different Cooling Regimes on the Mechanical Properties of Cementitious Composites Subjected to High Temperatures

The influence of different cooling regimes (quenching in water and cooling in air) on the residual mechanical properties of engineered cementitious composite (ECC) subjected to high temperature up to 800°C was discussed in this paper. The ECC specimens are exposed to 100, 200, 400, 600, and 800°C with the unheated specimens for reference. Different cooling regimens had a significant influence o...
